Master Bedroom gets a wake up call!

We all can relate to letting a room stay outdated for too long. This tired master bedroom needed a major wake up call. A throw back to the 80's, this room needed to not only reflect the homeowners more mature style, but to also bring a warmth to the space that would lend itself to rest and relaxation.

This room had to start with a clear slate. Nothing could stay from the previous decor. New furniture was in order as well as new window treatments.

The room was re-furnished with beautiful, dark walnut furniture. The peices that were chosen are more in scale with the size of the room and really help to balance the space. The peices are transitional in style and yet they add a very classic feel to the space. A neutral arm chair and ottoman gives this bedroom a hotel feel and finishes the space by filling the corner of the room.

The two existing windows were small and are in the corner. This configuration requires a treatment that will enhance the size and add drama to the space. Full drapery panels were added to these windows to balance the space and roman shades were installed for privacy and light control. The finishing touch to these beautiful windows are the dark walnut decorative pole rods. This really adds a finish that works so well with the chosen furniture.

Textured bedding was chosen and silk stripe fabric for the shams and bolster add a rich color to the room. Stripe is the perfect pattern for maintaining a soft simplicity to the look of the space.

The bedroom also has a tres ceiling which is a unique feature to the room. However, this feature was lost in the lack of color missing from this space for so many years. Adding rich color that was inspired from one of the colors in the striped silk fabric and painting the vertical slant in the ceiling brought this unique feature back to life. The walls are done in a warm green tone which also reflects the colors in the silk stripe.

Simple accessories were used to complete the look of this room. Table lamps in a soft pewter finish are understated and elegant. Art work for over the bed is sleek and clean and works well with the over all transitional design. This room is a great example of less really is more. There is no one element in this space that steals the show. It is the way all of the elements work with one another that make this space such a great update.

Let this space inspire you to wake up a room in your home. It is time to make that change and enjoy the space that is in store for you.
